Alain Delon, the legendary French actor, had one last dramatic scene in mind: a peaceful exit alongside his beloved dog, Loubo. Back in 2018, Delon declared that if he passed before his loyal Belgian malinois, he wanted the pup to join him in the great beyond, courtesy of a vet's needle. "He is my end-of-life dog," Delon explained, "and I'd rather have him die in my arms than suffer alone."

Fast forward to 2024, and Delon’s family is saying, "Merci, but no merci!" Despite the actor's sentimental, if not slightly morbid, wishes, they’ve decided Loubo is staying right where he belongs—alive, well, and very much above ground. The dog's golden years will be spent in the loving care of Delon’s relatives, who’ve assured everyone that there won’t be any joint burial arrangements.

The Brigitte Bardot Foundation, which got involved after hearing about Delon’s plan, confirmed the family’s decision, breathing a collective sigh of relief along with animal rights groups everywhere. They’re happy to report that Loubo won’t be trading in his dog treats for a halo anytime soon.

As for Delon, he spent his life surrounded by over 50 canine companions, many of whom he laid to rest on his property. But when it comes to Loubo, the family has drawn the line: this dog’s life won’t be ending in a Hollywood fade-to-black just yet.
