Olivia Culpo's Wedding Dress Game Plan: From Miss Universe to Miss Modest

Olivia Culpo's Wedding Dress Game Plan: From Miss Universe to Miss Modest

Before tying the knot with NFL star Christian McCaffrey on June 29, Olivia Culpo meticulously strategized her ultimate fashion play: crafting a gown that would be more timeless than a touchdown.

In gearing up to legally draft herself onto Christian McCaffrey's team, Olivia had a crystal-clear vision. "I wanted something that matched the gravity of the commitment," she shared with Vogue, the same day she took the bridal field in Watch Hill, R.I.

Teaming up with Dolce & Gabbana, the former Miss Universe devised a plan to ensure her dress stayed classy and far from sassy. "I didn’t want it to exude sex in any way, shape, or form," she emphasized. Opting for a long-sleeve crepe crew neck ball gown, a 16-foot lace veil, and minimal makeup (mascara didn’t even make the cut), she aimed for elegance without the extra flair. "I wanted it to feel effortless and complementary, not overpowering. There’s so much beauty in simplicity."

Given their top priority of a church wedding, she collaborated with the Italian design maestros to create a gown with long sleeves, a crew neck, and a drop waist to elongate her torso. The first sketch was a touchdown – she didn't call for any replays.
